Les Portes Ouvertes des Ateliers d'Artistes de Belleville

May 15, 2024 through May 18, 2024

Rub7_hc2009_AAB_1__jpg 250 artists will be participating at this annual event, presenting work in over 130 sites and studios in and around Belleville in the 20th arrondissement.

The Ateliers d'Artistes de Belleville president, Nicolas Dupeyron states:

The success and appeal of the Belleville open studios is due, in my view, to its authenticity; authenticity in the work of the artists, in their engagement in public life, authenticity in their contact with the public.

The art that the artists propose is all but flashy or artificial. It is not made to evaporate in the curls and wreathes of our communication society. This is one reason why we consider it as real art, art in its solid state.

This year's theme revolves around "skin"; By crossing the artistic dimension with the political and ethical issues related to skin (skin grafts, scientific progress, biometrics, racism), artists have surprising ways of triggering reflection on these questions that are part of Belleville’s past and present.

Artween.com: Art between artists - right on target

Susan Adda writing for I V Y paris

Image 4-1 Navigating the art world can prove to be a confusing runaround, especially for those with specific criteria in mind. For players on the art scene, the on-line community, in it's incredible vastness, holds the promise of hope for international recognition, a following, or of attracting a larger audience.

For those with an interest in art or art promotion, the inclusion of on-line networking has been in recent years, one of the best ways to get the word out, although not specifically to members of the art community. Facebook and Myspace offer a different approach to providing a presence on the net, but cater to a general audience.

Finally the art world has found it's own on-line network. A free-access meeting place directed exclusively to the art community, artween.com is a self-described «portal devoted entirely to art».

As part of the «Artween Tribe», participants can publicize art events, promote art work and keep in touch. User-friendly, the site includes a specific database for each search category : Type of art researched, type of art represented or created, nationality, and an alphabetical listing accordingly- The art world at your fingertips.

All encompassing, Artween accomodates anyone with an interest in art, and provides a not only a spotlight for the players who promote the art scene, but also an access for it's audience: Information seekers, talent hunters and art lovers. The artween network includes artists, galleries, collectors, dealers, museums and foundations, a market place, art students, and art-job listings.

Postgraduate Programme in Curating at Zurich University of the Arts

Senn_01 The Postgraduate Programme in Curating (MAS/CAS) is a discursive platform designed to impart specialist knowledge of contemporary curating practices through practice-oriented projects.

Coursework explores different areas of knowledge, and involves the development and production of projects through lectures and workshops delivered by an international selection of artists, curators, theorists, architects and designers.

The programme focuses less on the concept of the exhibition planner as an individual author, which has been a highly controversial topic since the 1990s, and more on cooperative, interdisciplinary working methods.

Call for Entry Photo d’Hôtel, Photo d’Auteur 2024

GuillaumeAmat-Painted-Veil Since 2024, the Hôtels Paris Rive Gauche, a group of six hotels in Paris, have initiated the artistic project “Photo d’Hôtel, Photo d’Auteur”, aiming at supporting contemporary photography.

The concept of the project is simple: A different photographer comes every month to spend a night in one of the hotels. Each then takes a photograph and writes a text inspired by their stay.

The 12 photographers are then exposed in a historic space (such as the théâtre de Odéon) and compete for a prize of 3000€ and the coup de cœur Prix Virginie Clément.
