Centre Pompidou's OBJET D'ARCHIVES: L'ATELIER AU 20e SIECLE

Cp_2

The Institut national d'histoire de l'art and la Bibliotheque Kandinsky are focussing on the artist's 'atelier' (studio) as a center of artistic production and its represention through archives, whether it be photographs, architectural plans, sketches, narration, interviews, film, correspondance...

The 'Atelier' has left many traces in the corpus of documents from the Bibliotheque Kandinksy, informing about the artists and their work spaces: from La Ruche and the Bateau-Lavoir to the contemporary ateliers...passing through the spiritualist Albert Gleizes in the vallees de la Drome, to Andy Warhol's legendary Factory.

Artists, researchers, and art critics will discuss documents issued from the Bibiotheque Kandinsky in parallel to the current exposition "Ateliers: l'artiste et ses lieux de creation" that's taking place at the Centre Pompidou 'til the 28th of May. The conferences, discussions, and debates will be held the 9th and 10th of May. The programme is available here. Free entry.
