Bauhaus University Master of Fine Arts Program

BauhausUniFotoGGreiner8030- The Faculty of Art and Design at the Bauhaus-University Weimar launched an international Master of Fine Arts course of study - "Public Art and New Artistic Strategies" in 2024. This unique program allows students to focus on art projects that go beyond the protective space of the museum and gallery. The point of departure are the different strategies and interventions of artists working in public space today. The definition of public space includes urban configurations, parks and gardens, landscapes and new media, as well as works that are communicated through radio, television or the internet.

The goal of the course of study is to prepare the students to deal with the particular situation of art in association with and in the public realm, and to enable effective artistic interventions in public space. Public Art and New Artistic Strategies was named one of the top 10 International Master’s Degree Courses for its highly innovative concept of the program, quality teaching and a convincing international focus. To be admitted to the MFA Program you must have a first art college or academy degree of a minimum of eight semesters or a degree determined to be equivalent by the examining committee. The final selection of the students is based on the documentation of the artwork in combination with the aptitude test and, if necessary, an interview. The application for admission to the program is to be mailed by March 31. For more information visit Bauhaus-University website.
